FACES of FOOD FORWARD: Laura Avery

You’ll recognize her voice from KCRW’s Market Report, but if you’re not familiar, this Market is in Santa Monica, and she fills us in on all the plentiful produce and goods that are available that week. In fact, after shooting with her, we had to spare a few more minutes to make sure we went home with some of those delicious grapes, and peaches, and greens, and the list goes on.

Always on the go, Laura led us through the market, sharing stories of generosity, friendship and abundance.

Laura Avery was the Farmers Market Supervisor at the Santa Monica Farmers Market since 1982 and serves on the Food Forward Council of Advisors. She was instrumental in helping Food Forward start its Farmers Market Recovery program at the Santa Monica Wednesday market in 2012, a program which has now grown to 25 markets across Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
