The Art of sharing

short documentary - COMING TO FESTIVALS

Synopsis

Follow Michelin-starred chef and artist Minh H. Phan as she explores the dual crises of food waste and hunger from a refugee’s perspective, creating an immersive art installation and culinary experience shaped through her residency with Food Forward. Through this collaboration, she uncovers how surplus food is rescued and redirected to communities in need, revealing the often unseen systems that bridge abundance and food insecurity.

Along the way, we meet the people at the heart of this food chain, farmers, distributors, and community members, as well as the organizations working to connect excess food with the communities that need it most.

The Art of Sharing is a powerful call to action, inviting viewers to rethink food systems and consider how abundance can be reclaimed, shared, and transformed into dignity, care, and connection.

“Food waste is food abundance through a different lens. Through this residency, I hope to ignite conversations, challenge perceptions, and share humanity, ancestral knowledge and trauma, and my very own story of being a refugee and my relationship with food and systems. I can’t imagine a better home and muse than Food Forward for my new body of work.” – Minh H Phan
